• Discovering the wealth of talent in Kyrgyzstan

Nurjamal took me on a mini tour of Bishkek to meet some of her designer and artisan friends - Kyrgyzstan really is a country brimming with talent.

First stop was the National Art Gallery, we were taken in through the backdoor as it's currently closed for restoration, and treated to a private viewing of embroidery. These intricate pieces combine antique sections of embroidery seamlessly combined with the new work.

They also make embroidered silk collars, how great would this look with a LBD?!

We then went on to discover a designer who makes Chapan coats, like our scarves they are a modern twist on a traditional textile. The perfect Spring jacket - don't you think?

Now, when I was told we were going to see a leather artist I couldn't imagine what it entailed, but what we found was true craftsmanship.

But I think it's the abstract pieces that really stole the show!

The final stop for the day was to see felt toys, this little family is coming home with me!

I may too be this round if my Kyrgyz feasts for breakfast, lunch and dinner continue! I'll tell you about my great Day 2 dinner later...
